Janice Cordelia Parker, aka “Mimi”, 83, passed away at home in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 11, 2018. She was surrounded by family and friends the entire day and into the night offering her much love and comfort. She was born in Charlotte to parents Eunice and Troy Baker, who instilled the values of the love of family which would mold her into the loving, caring, nurturing mother, wife, sister, and friend that she was throughout her beautiful life.
In a picture book love story she met and married her handsome high school sweetheart, Archie, a love affair and marriage that would endure over 63 years. As a mother and father they provided a tremendous example to her family. All of the children and grandchildren will always beam with pride and respect when referring to this blessed couple.
Mimi was a wonderful soul who loved her family unconditionally. For those that she touched throughout her life you know what a beautiful person she was inside and out. She taught us all how to treat and love one another, a good woman with Southern roots who embraced all those who surrounded her. Her unwavering grace, class, and courage made a lasting impression on us all as she fought hard these past eight plus years and continued to set a good example for all. She was such a special woman with a smile that could light up any room, a very beautiful woman, but as humble as the day is long. She taught us many lessons through the example of how she led her life. What a woman she was, she will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Janice was predeceased by her husband, Archie Jessie Parker; her daughter, Tina Parker; and a brother, Don Baker. Janice is survived by her daughters, Cindy Hurleigh (Steve) and Kim Parker; and her son, Jeff Parker (Brandi).
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew and Troy Rives, Justin, Jordan, and Savannah Parker, Jessika Tucker, and Parker and Jacob Brittain; two beautiful great grandchildren, Adelynn and Elliott Rives; and sisters, Thelma Sharpe, and Vicki Houser.
Mimi may have moved on to be with the man of her dreams and her daughter, Tina, but she leaves behind a loving family legacy and all the individuals who were touched by her unforgettable smile and loving heart. We will choose to celebrate her life and hope that you will also.
Her life will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Thursday, November 15th at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
