Janet Howie Williams, age 54, of Charlotte, NC, died June 23, 2012 at Carolinas Medical Center following a two year bout with cancer.
Janet was born January 30, 1958 in Charlotte to Max M. and Joyce Gopfert Howie. She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1976 and attended Appalachian State University and University of North Carolina-Charlotte, earning degrees in biology and chemistry. Janet worked nineteen years for Heritage Environmental Services, where she was Operations Manager of the Charlotte facility.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 30, 2012 from the sanctuary of Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Road, Charlotte, with The Reverend Dr. Al Cadenhead, Jr. and The Reverend Dr. David Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Alan Williams and a daughter, Rachael Marie Williams. She is survived by her son, Erik Colin Williams and her daughter, Haylery Marie Williams; her parents, Max M. and Joyce G. Howie of Charlotte, NC; her brother, Monty Howie and wife, Sandy of Dunwoody, GA. In addition, Janet is survived by her mother-in-law, Marion Williams; brothers-and sisters-in-laws: Kenneth and Elizabeth Williams of Charlotte and Richard and Fran Williams of Matthews, NC; nieces and nephews: Nicole and Melissa Howie of Dunwoody, GA; Katie and Matthew Williams of Charlotte, NC and James and Daniel Williams of Matthews, NC.
Memorials may be to the American Cancer Society or the Providence Baptist Church Building Fund.
