Jim is survived by his daughter Michelle Revels and his son-in-law Barry Revels of Charlotte, son David Thomason, daughter-in-law Amy Thomason and their children Ella and Zoë, also of Charlotte.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Jackie Suzanne Thomason (née Hyatt) and his brother Robert Thomason.
Jim was born on December 28, 1946 in Chester, SC to parents James Lafayette Thomason and Rometta Diggs Thomason. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1965. For the majority of his career, he was a supervisor at St. Joe Paper & Corrugated Boxes, where he worked until 1999.
Jim was a loving husband, devoted Dad and adoring Papa. He married the love of his life in 1978 and together they had two children. He was social in his younger years; playing and coaching baseball and softball, bowling with a league and disco dancing with his sweet Suzanne. His heart was forever broken after her passing in 1993. Finally, they are together again.
Jim - or "Mr. T" as so many called him - never met a stranger. He was quick to find common ground with everyone, whether it be the score of the game, current events, or memories from back in the day. The kindness he exuded and the mischievous twinkle in his eye left everyone with a smile. He will always be remembered as a strong and principled man with a heart of gold and generous spirit.
He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2019. Visitation will take place between 12 noon and 2pm at McEwen Funeral Services located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte, NC 28212, with immediate family attending a private graveside service afterwards.
The family is grateful to the many people who cared after Jim during his eight months of illness.
In lieu of flowers and to honor the battle Jim's wife valiantly fought but tragically lost, please consider a donation to Susan G. Komen Foundation (www.komen.org) or St. Jude Children's Hospital (www.stjude.org).
