A U.S. Marine Corp Veteran, James retired from Acosta Heating & Cooling after 20 plus years of employment.
An avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed attending his grandson’s, Dallas and Kyle’s sporting events, holidays with his family and his cherished cat, Cotton.
Survivors include his sons, Troy (Mary Ann) and Wade (Leslie) Griffin; grandchildren, Dallas, Kyle and Heather; sister Gwendolyn “Bobbie” Avant; brother Gwyn (Michelle) Griffin; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and son, Jason Todd Griffin.
Graveside Service 1 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2022 at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC. Condolences may be submitted at www.forestlawnwest.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in James' memory to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, Humane Society of Charlotte or Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
