Mr. James W Flowe

March 22, 1925 - July 19, 2015

James Worth Flowe went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 19, 2015, in Charlotte, NC.

A service to celebrate his life will be at 11:00AM Wednesday, July 22nd, at Holly Hunter Baptist Church, Reverend Leland K. Stephens officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11AM prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with Military Rites.

Mr. Flowe was born March 22, 1925 in Mecklenburg County to the late John Oates and Mae Bell Honeycutt Flowe. In 1975 he was joined in marriage to Frances White Flowe who remained his wife and loving partner for 37 years until her passing in 2011. Mr. Flowe served in the Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked for the Thomas & Howard Company, the City of Charlotte and was self-employed at Flowe's General Merchandise. He retired from the City of Charlotte in 1991. He enjoyed charitable work and was a member of the Gideon's, Long Creek Masonic Order, and Charlotte Shrine Club as a member of the Rag Tops. He attended Clear Creek Baptist Church and later became a member of Thomasboro Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Flowe became founding members of the Holly Hunter Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, treasurer, bus driver, Sunday school teacher, usher, as well as on numerous committees. Jim also joined Liberty Baptist Church, where he served as the official greeter every Sunday morning.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Flowe Beard of Mooresville, stepson David Reynolds (Pamela) of Valencia , CA, grandchildren Katherine Reynolds Brown (Seth), and Joshua Beard, great-granchildren Serenity, Isaac and Grace, sisters Virginia Patterson and Margaret Ann Davis, and nephew Wayne Patterson (Mary). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances White Flowe, brothers, Walter and Howard Flowe, sister Nell Flowe Polk and stepson James L. Reynolds III (Joanna) and his first wife Hilde Jo Yandle.
