Jacquelyn "Jackie" Steed Wray

Jacquelyn "Jackie" Steed Wray, 88, of Charlotte, passed away in her home on Thursday, May 6, 2021. She was born on November 22, 1932 in Raleigh, NC to the late Thomas Warwick Steed and Winnie Mae Adams Steed.

Jackie attended Broughton High School. She graduated from St. Mary's in 1953 and from UNC Chapel Hill in 1955 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church (where she donated church bells), the Iron Dukes, Opera Guild of Charlotte, Robinson Woods Garden Club, and Myers Park Country Club. She was treasurer of Tri Delta at UNC Chapel Hill. She enjoyed music, bridge and working with charities. But what Jackie enjoyed the most were the people and friendships she made along the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williamson Wray, Jr.; daughter, Susan Wray Givens; son, Charles Williamson Wray III; and brother, Thomas Warwick Steed, Jr.

Jackie is survived by her granddaughter, Elizabeth Mock (Jarod); daughter-in-law, April Wray; son-in-law, Jimmy Givens; sister-in-law, Sarah Simpson; nephew, Bobby Simpson; niece, Betty Harmon; nephew, Billy Simpson; sister-in-law, Margaret Steed; nephew, Tommy Steed; nephew, Bill Steed; and nephew, Durk Steed.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 15 at Providence Baptist Church. Burial will be private at Evergreen Cemetery.
