Born April 12, 1928 in Whitmire S.C., he was the son of the late Toney B. Robinson and Laura Alvis Robinson. Jack was one of 12 children. He attended Thomasboro High School in Charlotte NC and upon graduation he was a pitcher for the minor league baseball team for the Washington Senators.
Jack was employed by Southern Bell for 35 years as a lineman and upon retirement was the owner of Robinson Prewire for many years. Jack and his wife were members of Greenland Avenue Baptist Church. What brought Jack the greatest joy was to be surrounded by his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather and could always be found at his children’s sporting events and parties and was always there for his grandchildren’s dance recitals and art shows.
Jack never met a stranger and was known by anyone that knew him as a colorful storyteller. His signature way of saying hello was a trademark and will never be forgotten. Jack was an avid golfer and was a charter member of Carolina CC and later a member of River Hills GC. Jack loved to fish and spend time gardening and doing anything outdoors. He loved life to the fullest and was active well into his nineties.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Frye Robinson and his son, Jack Robinson Jr,(Rob). ,
He is survived by his daughters Debbie Poss and Susan Burton his son in law Tom Burton and his grandchildren Megan Burton and Paige Burton. He will be greatly missed by all.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Tuesday, August 15th at 2pm at the Forest Lawn West Chapel with burial following the service at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
