Herbert served his country in the Korean War, was a member of Tega Cay Baptist Church; and in his free time, enjoyed gardening, photography, reading and attending Bible Study.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Lillian Thomas, brother, Harvey Max Thomas and sister, Willie Ruth Baucom.
Herbert is survived by his son, Greg Thomas and wife, Maria Torres Thomas, grandson, Alexander Thomas, son, Victor Thomas and wife, Susan Thomas, granddaughter, Maggie Velez and husband, Kenny Velez, great-granddaughter, Lily Velez, sister, Audrey Hamilton, sisters in law; Doris Preslar, Vivian Price and Hazel Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 from 11:00am to 12:30pm at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 12:30pm. Herbert will then be laid to rest with military honors at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint HIll, NC.
The family encourages a donation to Tega Cay Baptist Church Building Fund 1875 Gold Hill Road Ft. Mill, SC 29708 in lieu of flowers.
