Loving, caring and trusting are only a few words to describe Helen Gregory Salmon.
Her life began on October 20, 1942, daughter of the late Mackey Gregory, Sr. and Velvie Gregory. She departed this earth on March 16, 2022.
Helen attended Winchester High School Monroe, North Carolina, Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina and was the Secretary of Sunday School. When she returned home from college, she left Monroe, North Carolina to pursue a new life in New York where she worked at Coney Island Hospital and met her husband, Thomas Salmon, who predeceased her. After his death, she returned home to North Carolina.
Helen was loved by all, always had a smile and words of encouragement. She loved cooking, reading, shopping and watching baseball, football, and basketball games.
She is predeceased in death by her husband, Thomas Salmon, four brothers, Melvin, Roach, Charles, Mackey, Jr. and two sisters, Esther Mason and Luella Cuthbertson.
Left to mourn her passing are three sisters, Minnie Lee Withers, Etta Grier, Geraldine Jones, brother-in-law, Herbert Jones, Thomas’s sons and daughter, grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation for Helen will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:30 PM at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
