Harriet "Lib" E. Simpson

one of nine children born October 23, 1944 in Morven NC to the late Lester and Lula

(Harrington) Carpenter of Lilesville, NC. She was married to the late Wayne Simpson of

Charlotte.

She was a graduate of Morven High School and former employee of Ricmar Industries.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Affectionately known as “Nana” to her

grandchildren, family was everything to her. She enjoyed holidays especially Christmas mostly

because she loved cooking with her husband, Wayne, for her family and friends.

She spent the last year and a half at Brookdale Senior Living in Durham, NC. She loved her time

there. She loved assisting Bridget, the activities director, and the other resident ambassadors

decorate the community. She was thriving and enjoying herself with her community of friends.

Survivors include her daughters Harriet White (Lee) of Durham and Lisa Bolick of Huntersville

and son, Rodney Ratliff (Robin) of Greensboro. Grandchildren: Chase White (Kaitlyn), Lindsey

Abbott (Tyler), Chelsea Strickland (Joey), Audrey, Meagan and Hannah Bolick, and Logan Ratliff

as well as her great grandchildren, Caroline Strickland, Harrison and Leila Abbott. Her siblings

Frank, Dan and Harvey Carpenter, Midge Kilbane and Jean Pruitt. She is also survived by

numerous other family and friends.

Lib was preceded in death by her parents, Lester & Lula Carpenter; her loving husband Wayne

Simpson; her brothers Robert Carpenter and Freddie Carpenter as well as her sister Marlene

Morris.

Funeral service at 1 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Forest Lawn West Funeral &

Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte. Burial at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
