Gerald Douglas Pease, a remarkable man whose creative spirit and boundless love enriched the lives of all who knew him. He peacefully passed away on August 11, 2023 in Locust, NC. Born on October 8, 1935 in Elkland, PA, to the late Mahlon David and Bertha May (Cooper) Pease, he carried with him a legacy of artistry, adventure, and unwavering devotion to family. He was married to his loving wife, Mary Edith Hoadley on April 19, 1958.
Gerald's artistic talents knew no bounds, as he expressed himself masterfully across various mediums. His oil and water paintings were a tribute to the breathtaking nature he treasured on his hiking expeditions, where he found solace and inspiration. A gifted woodworker and quilter, his hands fashioned creations that will continue to grace homes for generations to come.
His deep love for travel was evident in the cherished memories he created with his beloved wife Mary and their daughters: Debby (Bob) Telfer, Lori (Wayne) Jones, Sherry (Dave) Tomasko, and MaryAnn (Troy) Griffin. From the tranquil shores of the ocean to the towering mountains, from the allure of cruises to the enchanting landscapes of Italy, Bahamas, Hawaii, and Alaska. Each journey was an opportunity for Gerald to impart his passion for exploration to his family.
Gerald's legacy is carried on by his adoring grandchildren: Marie, Darin, Debbie, Christy, Zachery, Danielle, Marshelle, and Heather. In addition, he leaves behind 11 great-grandchildren, as well as several nephews and nieces. Each a testament to his enduring impact.
His dedication extended beyond his family, as he honorably served in the army, a true patriot. Professionally, his skills shone in diverse fields, from his contributions in printed circuit boards to his pivotal role as a service and operations manager for trailer sales under his father-in-law's guidance. His meticulous attention to detail also extended to maintaining a trailer park, where he orchestrated the day-to-day operations with precision.
A "chef extraordinaire," Gerald's culinary prowess was legendary, most notably in his creations of meticulously designed wedding cakes for his daughters. He generously shared his artistic talents with his daughters and grandchildren, leaving an indelible mark on each generation.
Gerald's love for the water was evident in his cherished place on the St. Lawrence. Where he and Mary reveled in boating and fishing, forming lifelong memories. In his youth, he showcased his athleticism as a standout runner in high school. A testament to his determination and spirit.
Gerald joins his parents and his siblings Reta, LaVerna, Naomi, Mahlon Jr., Charles, and Gordon in eternal rest. He is survived by his brother Larry.
A celebration of Gerald's life will be held to honor the legacy of a man whose impact reached far beyond his years. His memory will forever inspire us to embrace creativity, adventure, and love in all that we do.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of his funeral service at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to: Cancer.org or Spondylitis.org.
