Freida worked for the City of Charlotte in the Risk Management Department for many years then started her own business and later retired in 2023 as CEO of the North Carolina Housing Authorities Risk Retention Pool. Throughout her life, she believed in the importance of nurturing relationships and extending love to everyone she met. Her home was always open to those she knew. It was a place for laughter, warmth, and connection. Hanging around the kitchen island with her family was one of her favorite places to be when she wasn’t traveling the world with special friends and loved ones.
Her life was not defined by grand gestures of material wealth but by the deep and lasting bonds she formed. She had a natural ability to make others feel seen and valued, whether through a simple conversation or a thoughtful gesture. To know her was to love her, and those who knew her well will forever miss her light and spunk.
We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Atrium Pineville ICU for their compassion and kindness during this difficult time. We couldn’t have found a better team to care for her and are so very grateful. We are also forever thankful for her caregiver, NeNe Smith. Thank you for caring for her the way you did.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte/Down Syndrome
Achievement Center. gigisplayhouse.org/charlotte. In honor of Freida's great-grandson, Cadan Wrenn.
