Frederick William Greene

Frederick William (Bill) Greene, 81, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday August 26, 2021. He had been in declining health for some time and could not withstand the effects of Covid-19 despite being vaccinated. Bill is remembered for his humor, quick wit, and full heart. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carole Greene.

Bill was born on October 16, 1939 in Durham, NC to the late Norman Eugene Greene and Margie Paschal Greene. He graduated from Curry High School and Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. His career was spent at Jefferson Standard Life Insurance, Westinghouse Turbine, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. He was a member of the Charlotte Jaycees and Hornets Nest Antique Auto Club. He had a passion for history and music as well as his many collections.

The most important thing in Bill’s life was his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Ashylnn Kelker (Michael) and Alicia Greene, and granddaughters, Katherine Kelker, Allison Kelker, and Morgan Greene-Haines. Additionally, he is survived by Diane Edwards, David Edwards, Jonathan Edwards, Amanda Rusmisell (Jay), Eli Edwards, Maxwell Rusmisell, and Bennett Rusmisell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Robert Eugene Greene.

A visitation and celebration of life service will be held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Charlotte on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, respectively. The interment will be held at 3:00 PM that afternoon at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Humane Society, USO, the Hornets Nest Region Antique Auto Club Scholarship Fund, or St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
