Frances Clinard

Frances Ellen Helms Clinard, 98, of Charlotte, NC passed away on September 15, 2022, at River Park Senior Living in Little River, SC. Frances was born May 16, 1924, in Rock Hill, SC to the late Mary Tabitha Onley Helms and John Columbus Helms.

On December 14, 1941, Frances married “the boy next door”, William Thomas Clinard (Bill). They lived briefly in Morganton, NC and Asheville, NC before returning to Charlotte, NC in 1951. They celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to Bill’s death in February 1992.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, William Thomas Clinard II (Carolyn) of Little River, SC, Sue Ellen Clinard (Harley Lingerfelt) of Winnsboro, SC and John J. Clinard (Pamela) of Savannah, Georgia. She is survived by four grandchildren, Jonathan Scott Clinard, Robin Colleen Clinard, Lee Hoover and Lauren Jerome and six great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Frances is predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters and grandson, William Thomas Clinard III.

Frances was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Charlotte NC. She attended Central High School in Charlotte, NC.

A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park on October 8, 2022 at 11:00am.
