Etta Francis Nolan Dulin, 81, slipped into eternal rest on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at her residence. A daughter of the late Charles Nolan and Lilly Dixon Nolan, she was born in Charlotte on March 16, 1931. Etta served thousands of customers while working at Ivey’s and Dillard’s department stores for over 20 years. As a humble servant of Christ, Etta faithfully attended Plaza Church of the Nazarene and later Calvary Church of the Nazarene. She taught Sunday school for 42 years and drove numerous family and friends to church each Sunday. Etta followed Paul’s reminder in Galations 6:2 to “Carry each other’s burdens” and Romans 12:15 “rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep”. She celebrated life with family and friends and offered her helping hand to those who called upon her.
Many relatives and friends helped care for Etta during her lengthy illness, including her beloved sister, Nancy, who passed away in March of this year. Her special caregiver was her brother-in-law, Steve Grant.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, August 27th at Sharon Memorial Park with Rev. Tim Lichtley and Rev. Elmer Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, from 3:00PM to 5:00PM, Sunday, August 26th.
Etta is survived by a sister, Becky Grant and husband Steve, of Charlotte; a brother, Marvin Nolan and wife JoAnne, of Ohio and many nieces, nephews, as well as great-nieces and nephews and their spouses in Charlotte and Roanoke, VA.
In addition to her parents, Etta was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Aaron Dulin, three sisters and three brothers.
