Eric Tyndale Browne

Mr. Eric Tyndale Browne Sr., who was affectionately known to family as BB (Boy Browne), was born on January 25, 1946 in Monrovia, Liberia to the late Mayea Viola Browne and the late Edwin Thomas Browne, Sr. He gained his wings on December 28, 2022 at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, GA. He was 76 years young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Victor Browne.

Mr. Browne attended St. Patrick’s High School in Monrovia, Liberia and completed his undergraduate studies at Notre Dame College in Ozoro, Nigeria in 1970. He earned his graduate degree from Cuttington University in Suacoco, Liberia.

In 1979 while Mr. Browne was visiting the United States on a work-related trip, Liberia’s President Tolbert was assassinated during the military coup carried out by Samuel Doe, and many of Mr. Browne’s work colleagues were executed. As a result, he was able to remain in the US under Political Asylum and began working to send for his family. He worked multiple jobs over a 2-year period to relocate his family to the US in 1982.

Mr. Browne was proud to follow in his father’s footsteps to become a Freemason, and was a member of the Palestine Lodge #7 of The Prince Hall Grand Lodge Minnesota’s Jurisdiction and a Patron of the Pride of the West Chapter #9 of the Order of the Eastern Star Prince Hall Grand Chapter Minnesota’s Jurisdiction. He worked for Lowe’s Companies, Inc. for many years and retired in 2019. Before his death he was enjoying retirement with his wife of 18 years, Beatrice, at their home in Lawrenceville, GA.

Mr. Browne was an outgoing person who never met a stranger. He was very popular and understood the power of connection. In fact, he was known for connecting people to longtime friends and relatives with whom they’d lost touch. He loved all things African (movies, music, food, clothing, politics, etc.) and could not go more than a few days without his favorite dish, Fufu and Pepper Soup. He lived life to the fullest and never missed an opportunity to dance like no one was watching. All he needed was a good African song and you’d find him on the dance floor putting all the young people to shame.

Mr. Browne leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Beatrice M. Browne, seven children, Eric T. Browne, Jr., Janjay (Erica) Browne, Johanns Harmon, Mayea Browne Reeves (Percival), Evangeline Browne-Jeffy (Prince), Constance Browne-Funderburk (Jamorya), Ernestine Browne-Erwin (Nigel), three bonus children, Vivian Bruce, Prince Appleton and Quasie Itoka (Shannon), twenty-four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three brothers, Edwin Browne, Jr. (Antoinette), Richelieu Browne, Winston Browne, seven sisters, Connie Haines, Busline Kromah, Joyce Browne, Cornelia Watson, Maria Lewis (Zarryu), Yarvor Browne and Mardia Allison (Henry), his aunt Lucretia Gibson-Goe and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is already missed terribly by all of us who knew and loved him. Rest in perpetual peace, BB, our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend! We will miss you, but God’s got you now!

A visitation for Eric will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208. A visitation will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Sanctuary Church Charlotte, 800 Culp Road, Pineville, NC 28134. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Sanctuary Church Charlotte, 800 Culp Road, Pineville, NC. A committal service will occur Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte, NC 28208.
