Edith Johnson Roper

Edith's passion was her family and involvement with young children. She was a Charlotte Mecklenburg school teacher for 38 years and enjoyed helping all learn to read and write. Her work ethic carried over to her church involvement at First Baptist Church - Matthews. She was a Sunday school teacher, a constant presence at Vacation Bible School, and served in Outreach Ministry for home bound people. She was a friend to everyone she met and she will be greatly missed.

Edith is preceded in death by her husband, Pleasant Terry Roper, Sr.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Roper Jr. (Aida) and Roger Roper (Kristy); her grand-daughters, Jessica Roper, Quinny Sanchez, Caroline Roper, and Anna Kate Roper; her great grandson, Hunter Roper; her brothers, John Johnson (Anita) and Dwight Johnson (Jane); and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Edith will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, June 3, 2022 at First Baptist Matthews, 185 South Trade Street, Matthews, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC.
