Edith Steele Hatcher

Edith graduated from Hamlet High School in North Carolina. She went on to pursue a career in telecommunications and retired from AT&T. She met her husband, Lester Hatcher, in Laurinburg and would eventually move to Greensboro, NC where they raised their two children. Work would eventually bring the family to Mint Hill, NC in 1976. Her faith was very important to Edith and she was a member at Wilgrove Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church. Edith had a strong work ethic, was involved with crafts, would travel on church trips, and her friendly advice will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Edith is survived by her son, Andy Hatcher; her daughter, Debbie Robertson (John); her grandchildren, Drew Hatcher, Alex Hatcher, Noah Hatcher, JT Robertson, and Brandon Robertson, her great-grandchildren, Scarlett Robertson, Crew Robertson, and Hazel Robertson; her brother, Mitchell Steele (Pat); and many other loving extended family members.

A Celebration of Edith's Life will be held on at 1:30 pm on Monday, July 17, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews - Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC.
