Dorothy “Dot” Alice Shaw Hutto, of Charlotte, North Carolina, died peacefully November 29, 2016, at her residence. She was born August 24, 1931, in Monroe, North Carolina, to the late Albert and Ruth Shaw.
Dot was the former office manager and seamstress with Contemporary Furniture Designs in Stallings, North Carolina. Following retirement, she enjoyed long trips to the beach with her husband. However, her heart was always at home where family and great grands were. Dot would never let them stay too long because she needed to see the grands. Preceding her in death was her husband, JR Hutto, in 2013.
Survivors include sons, Donald “Steve” Hutto and his wife, Judy, and David Hutto and his fiancée, Paula; grandchildren, Kim Gordon and her husband, Michael, Caren Dowless and her husband, Russell, and Christopher Hutto and his wife, Dina; great-grandchildren, Curtis Gordon, Abby and Alivia Dowless, and Avery Hutto. Also surviving are her sisters, Mildred Walker and Martha Charo; and brother, Lawrence Shaw and his wife, Donna.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, December 3rd, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
