Donna was born on October 12, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Robert and Mary Oline Fulton. Her family relocated to Miami, Florida where her father worked for Eastern Airlines. She graduated from North Miami Senior High School in 1960 and attended Miami-Dade Community College, achieving an Associate in Arts degree. Later, Donna obtained her legal assistant certification from Barry University.
Donna began her career as a legal secretary, and later enjoyed her time as a project manager for cell tower site acquisitions. Donna enjoyed the travel opportunities the site acquisitions afforded her. In 2003, she relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina to be closer to her granddaughters who were born in 2004.
Donna enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, even attending tournaments. She was known as a very sharp card player. Some of her other hobbies included dancing, reading, going to the movies, seeing plays and musicals and spending time with her granddaughters.
Donna successfully battled her first breast cancer diagnosis in the early 1980's. She was again diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in 2005. Despite all of the challenges of her original prognosis, she went on to live for 16 years.... so to say she was a fighter, is an understatement.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Dexter and husband, David and their two daughters, Claire and Alden; two sons, Steven Huddleston and his wife Alicia, and Craig Huddleston and also her brother, David Fulton.
Her family would like to thank everyone at Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region for their care and support of Donna these past eight months. In lieu of remembrances sent to the family, they ask that you consider making a donation to Hospice in Donna's memory.
There will be no public services held at this time. Please leave online condolences and memories for the family at www.mcewenminthillchapel.com
