Don T. Bryant , Jr. a resident of Charlotte, NC for more than five years, died in a fatal car accident in Rock Hill, SC. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the age of 27. He is the son of Altha T. Reed and Mr. Don T. Bryant, Sr.
Don “Gifted” Bryant was born on February 1, 1986 in New Haven, CT. He moved to Daytona Beach, FL at age 13 in 1998. Don graduated from Mainland Senior HS in 2004. After graduation he moved to Charlotte, NC with his sister Latosha Reed-Gatling. While in Charlotte he launched his music and acting career. Don played at various churches and events throughout the city. In his Mint Hill community he was active in charity performances for the Korean War Veterans. He received extra casting roles in acting through Talent Link. Most notably the movie “Blood Done Sign My Name” and a “Bojangles” commercial with Steve Smith.
His passion for music was his driving force. He was a “Gifted” musician. He began his musicianship playing the drums, dabbling at the keyboards and guitar at the age of 4 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in New Haven, CT. He found his amazing melodic voice at Helene Grant Elementary School. Thank you Mrs. Lillian Perkins for seeing his gifts. From 2009-present he played the drums for Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Don also saw and brought out the best in young people. He was a mentor to many. Taking his younger cousins, family members and other young people in the community under his wings. Throughout his life he was loved and cherished by many.
He will be deeply missed by his mother: Altha T. Reed (Johnson) of Mint Hill, NC; Father: Don T. Bryant Sr. of New Haven, CT; Son: Don T. Bryant III age 2yo; Brother: LeRoy Reed III, Sister: LaTosha T. Reed-Gatling(Harry-husband), Evelyn J. Guichard-grandmother, Lillie Bryant, grandmother, Howard Bryant, predeceased; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 12:00 to 2:00pm at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the chapel. https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/1bb2/dontbryantjrmemorialfund
