Deanna Mae Petrie

An only child, Deanna was born in Watertown, NY on December 5, 1939 to the late William and Harriet Johnson. Deanna was a graduate of Clayton Central High School and SUNY Cortland where she earned her B.S. in Education. She formerly lived in Wappingers Falls, NY before moving to NC in 2001.

Deanna was active in a number of community organizations including West End Presbyterian Church, Clara McLean House of Pinehurst, and The Women's Auxiliary of Seven Lakes.

Anyone who knew Deanna will tell you that she was a strong woman with a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. Deanna loved bird watching, gardening, and spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking. She was an avid animal lover, often rescuing and feeding those in need. She loved playing games with her friends and family and watching sports, particularly football.

Deanna is survived by her husband, David Petrie; her three children: Susan D'Errico and husband, John of Concord; Laura Petrie of Matthews, Julie McGarry and husband, Neil, of Raleigh. Her four grandchildren also survive her: Anthony (28); Jordyn (25); Riley (15); and Camryn (13).

A memorial service will be held at a future date at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel.
