David was born November 10, 1950, in Battle Creek, MI, the son of Donald and Mildred (Moss) Jackson. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and Kellogg Community College. David was united in marriage to Paulette Yost on September 20, 1997, at Grace Lutheran Church in Salisbury. He retired after 30 years of service in the Veterans Administration, where he worked as Assistant Chief of Acquistion and Materiels Mangement in Battle Creek and Ann Arbor, MI, Dayton, OH and Salisbury, NC. He was always happy to be of service to the Veterans of this country. He was a member of Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, Charlotte Coin Club, Tri-County Coin Club, a past-member of Godstock in Salisbury (a foundation for critically ill children), and former co-owner of Rowan Package Express. From 1999-2003, David delivered corneas across North Carolina for Transplant.
He had a long history of pain and surgeries, but he never made his life about complaints. He took what he had and made the best of it. He was an inspiration to many he came in contact with,
especially after learning to walk again after surgery that caused paralysis. He will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him. He loved his family and especially his grandsons. They were the joy of his life and helped so much in the midst of his chronic pain. He had a great faith and this kept him going during his struggles. He passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father
surrounded by his family who rejoice that he is no longer in pain.
David is survived by his wife of 15 years, Paulette Yost Jackson of Charlotte; daughter, Tiffany Teague of Charlotte; sons, Jeffrey Jackson of Charlotte and Paul Conner of Fort Mill, SC; five grandchildren-Ian, Luke and Noah Bartlett, Lathan Teague and Jaxom Conner, mother, Mildred D. Jackson of Battle Creek; brothers, Doug and Ron Jackson of Battle Creek; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Eugene Jackson on March 9, 2006.
