Charles Robinson passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014. He was born October 1, 1932, in Belmont, N.C. to the late Charlie C. Robinson and Virginia Christenbury Robinson.
After graduating from Sherrill’s Ford High School in 1950, he served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from Southern Bell/AT&T/Lucent Tec.
Charles served in the National Guard for 7 years. He was a dedicated member of the NCKWVA, The American Legion, The Second Indianhead Division Assoc., CWA and Telephone Pioneers. He was an active member of Pineville United Methodist Church. He was a loving Christian example, loved by all.
Charles was preceded in death by his brother Tommy Robinson and grandson, Landon Turner. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters: Andrea & husband, Mike Cowan, and Diana Turner; grandchildren: Toni Turner, Jennifer Cowan, and Andrew Cowan; four great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Jo and husband, Bill Sigmon, and Regis Barnhardt; brother, Gerald Robinson; sister-in-law, Barbara Robinson; and paternal aunt, Fannie Compton.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, May 29, 2014, from 10:30a.m.-11:00 a.m., at the Pineville United Methodist Church, 110 S. Polk Street, Pineville, NC, followed by his funeral service. Reverend Elaine Treece will officiate. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 29, at 2:30p.m. at the Concord U.M. Church Cemetery, 7618 Monbo Road, Catawba County, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charlie’s memory may be made to the Pineville UMC or to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region.
