Charles Roland Henry, 79, passed away on April 6th, 2012. He was a native of Charlotte. Born on August 30, 1932, he lived in Mecklenburg county all of his life. He attended Central High School, served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Henry spent his career in the building and construction trades, retiring from B&B Contracting Inc in 1995. He was a member of Mint Hill Masonic Lodge #742 for 42 years where he held many offices and was a Past Master. Mr. Henry was also a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Oasis Shrine and Mint Hill Order of Easterm Star # 353. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association #265 and was a member of the Wood, Wire and Metal Lathers International Union. Mr Henry was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church for many years where he served as a Deacon and was a member of several Sunday School classes.
He was the son of the late Charles Logan Henry and Violet Phillips Henry. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Margaret Hughes Henry. In addition, he leaves behind beloved daughter Leza Wallace and son-in-law Tim Wallace, grandson Jamie Wallace, granddaughter Jenny Wallace, great-grandson Carson Wallace and family friend Jayci Blanton. He is also survived by brother Robert Edward Henry and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was known and loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 12:30-2:00pm at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will follow with Charles Williamson presiding. A private interment with Masonic Rights will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church Building Fund at 11501 Bain School Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227.
