Mr. Rhodes was born in Charlotte on February 19, 1929. He retired from the United States Air
Force as a Master Sergeant and served in WWII, Korean war and Vietnam. During his time in
service he was a recipient of several distinguished awards.
Mr. Rhodes was a proud veteran and loved his country. He had a heart of gold and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 35 years Sandy Rhodes, children Mark Rhodes (Stephanie),
Wanda Lombardino, Kim Nichols (Dale), Bill Trull (Stephanie), Shelly Hunter (James), Keri Russell
(Jeremy), Ashley Williams (Scott), sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mr. Rhodes was proceeded in death by his parents Mr. Charles Orr Rhodes and Mrs. Bessie
Morris Rhodes, grandson and best friend David, adored great granddaughter Tori, seven
brothers and three sisters.
The family will greet friends on Thursday, May 30th at 1pm at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon
Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte. A memorial service for Cecil will start
at 2pm followed by his committal.
His wife and children are eternally grateful to all of those that helped care for Mr. Rhodes
including family, friends, neighbors and nurses.
