Catherine Cannon Kinzer

Cathey, age 59, passed away after a long battle with chronic illnesses, Thursday 05/15. She is survived by her husband Peter, children Andrew and Elizabeth, her brother Hayne Cannon, sister-in-law Tammy, Matilda her sweet rescue pup, as well as extensive family and friends. Cathey was an incredible wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She meant a lot to us all. She would not have wanted us to mourn her passing but to celebrate her life. Cathey was a substance abuse counselor with an LCAS for 25 years. She worked with Gaston County detox, Piedmont Behavioral Health, Daymark, and Carolinas Counseling just to name a few. In her profession she touched and helped so many lives.

She had an amazing capacity for love for all living things and the joy she found was shared with all who knew her. For those who had the honor of knowing Cathey, she was a straightforward, no nonsense gal. When she got something in her mind, it was bound to come to fruition one way or another. Which resulted in amazing life filled with generosity, empathy for others, love, and compassion. Services will be held at Forrest Lawn West on Freedom drive in Charlotte, NC. A receiving for all those who wish to pay their respects will be at Forrest Lawn West Monday night from 7-9pm and the family will have a private service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Queen of the Apostles of Belmont, NC building fund.
