Mrs. Carolyn Jackson Hubbard

Carolyn Jackson Hubbard, 80, of Charlotte, passed away October 22, 2023 peacefully through the night. Carolyn was born March 1, 1943 to the late Ellis and Betty Jackson, of Red Springs, NC. She was married to Percy, her high school sweetheart for 55 wonderful years.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Ennis; two grandchildren, Jackson, 21, and Emily, 18, all from Huntersville; her brother, Billy Ray Jackson (Rebecca), of Pinehurst and sister, Lilly June Alls of Jacksonville, NC; along with many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Lee Hubbard III; her sisters, Joanne Jackson and Janice Van Horn, and her brother Steve Jackson.

Carolyn lived with a generous heart and she was a ball of energy. She was a mover and shaker in every aspect of life. She led VBS for years, was the Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society and was involved in the Prayer Pillow Fellowship. She was an amazing seamstress, loved every holiday and found ways to celebrate at home, school, and church.

Carolyn spent 38 years in education, most of those in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She taught and held numerous administrative positions within CMS, including Regional Superintendent and Curriculum and Instruction for Elementary Schools. Her true love was working in the school. She opened Blythe Elementary as the Principal and poured her heart into the community. She was dearly loved by students, parents and staff.

Carolyn was also a member of Durham Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years, a place that filled her life with joy, friendships and love. She loved the Lord and served him selflessly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 12 pm at her church with a service to follow at 1 pm. Burial in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Durham Memorial Baptist Church, 1601 Toddville Road, Charlotte, NC, 28214.
