Mrs. Foster was the consummate Navy wife. She supported her husband during his 22-year career and 3 deployments to Vietnam. She raised the children and kept the household together. She was active in the Navy Wives Club and mentored young Navy wives.
Mrs. Foster received the Governor’s Award and the Nine Who Care award for her splendid work with the Union County Guardian Ad Litem. She worked tirelessly to serve as a voice for at risk youth and took great steps to ensure the youth of Union County were protected.
Mrs. Foster was born in Charlotte, NC on June 27, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Reuben and Thelma Reams. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Howard C. (Charlie) Foster, brothers Freddie Reams and Michael Reams and her son, Christopher Kerry Foster.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Foster (Elizabeth) and daughter, Carla Foster Stevens (Marvin), her sister, Doris Stroupe (Jimmy), her brother Ronnie Reams (Cindy), and her brother Roger Reams and daughter-in-law Tricia Foster.
Mrs. Foster had six grandchildren ~ Ashley Bridges, Jacob Foster (Emilie), Megan Boland (Daniel), Alex Foster, Nicole Benton (Chad) and Morgan Foster. She was blessed with nine great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the nurses of Union County Hospice for their compassion and professionalism.
Visitation and service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service located at 5716 Monroe Road in Charlotte, NC. Visitation will start at noon with the service at 2pm. Burial immediately following at Sharon Memorial Park.
