Charlotte - Mrs. Carriker, age 74, passed away on September 11, 2014 at Levine-Dickson Hospice at Southminster. She was born in Charlotte on June 17, 1940, daughter of the late Mildred Walser and Frederick Noll Thompson. She is predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Thompson Beury and Sara Noll Thompson Mikell.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Henry Carriker; son, Frederick Thompson Carriker (Linda); and daughter, Caroline Blair Carriker Donald (Buzz); two grandchildren, Alexander Henry Donald and Marion Thompson Donald; nieces, Mary Mikell McDonald, Katherine Mikell Cochran and Mildred Mikell McNeil.
Caroline so enjoyed volunteering at her church, reading, and loved her animals. She was a kind, gracious, loving, gentle, and thoughtful soul with a fun sense of humor. She served as a role model to her children and was a blessing to anyone who knew her.
She attended Charlotte Country Day School, St. Ann’s Preparatory School, and graduated from Myers Park High School in 1958 and attended Mount Vernon College. She was a devoted member and faithful volunteer of the Charlotte Junior League, Charlotte Speech & Hearing Center Auxiliary and First Presbyterian Church.
After a private burial, a memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
