After graduating high school early, Carole Ann received degrees from Lees-McRae College and the Medical College of Georgia and went on to serve as Medical Records Administrator and Residency Coordinator with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Carolinas Medical Center for over 40 years where she made generations of young physicians feel like they had a loving family member at their side as they embarked on their training.
After retirement, she worked part-time at Eastover-University OB/GYN to remain in contact with many of the countless area physicians who adored her. A lover of travel, animals, UNC basketball, and baking; Carole Ann was also a fixture at the pool for water aerobics and coordinated many reunions for her high school class.
Always quick to give a smile, hug, or birthday cake to anyone who needed it, she loved others and life with a passion and optimism that never faded even as she decided to fight and defeat pancreatic cancer.
Carole Ann had the largest family on the planet because she treated every person she knew as a beloved relative. She is survived by her aunt Mary Carolyn Mendenhall, special Cousin Julie Barton, goddaughter Amy Scoggins, her beloved cats Hannah and Houligan, and countless friends who were blessed beyond measure to know her.
There will be a celebration of life for Carole Ann on Saturday, March 26 at 2pm at Family Sports and Fitness located at 332 Hwy 200 North in Stanfield.
In lieu of flowers, Carole Ann would have loved for all to make a donation to Best Friends Animal Society at www.bestfriends.org.
