Blanche Carolyn Eargle, 97, died at home on February 11, 2012. Born on November 16, 1914 in Leesville, SC (Delmar), she was a daughter of the late Minnic Luther Eargle and Blanche Shealy Eargle. Miss Eargle moved to the Derita community at age 6 and was a graduate of Derita High School and had attended Brevard College.
Miss Eargle was employed as Director of Special Services at the Methodist Home (Aldersgate) for 35 years, retiring in 1979. In 1976, she was awarded Diaconal Minister title in the United Methodist Church, taking leave of absence in 1978. She was a life long member of Cole Memorial United Methodist Church, serving on many church boards, Sunday School teacher and choir member. Miss Eargle was active in the church’s United Methodist Women’s organization and a member of the Joy Club.
She was an active member of the Sugaw Creek Friendly Club and for 12 years served as a leader of the Sugaw Creek Extension Homemakers Club.
A funeral to celebrate her life will be held at 1:00PM, Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Cole Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tom Sigmon and Rev. Patience Brumley officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from Noon to 1:00PM prior to the funeral hour.
Miss Eargle is survived by three sisters, Nancy Eargle, Jane Chapman, both of Charlotte, Cartha Lee, of Columbia, SC; a brother, William (Bill) Eargle, of Charlotte; nieces, Shelia Rogers (Jerry), Kathy Mitchell (Wilbert), Brenda Fowler (David), Graham Glover (Dwayne); nephews, Mickey Eargle (Renita) Billy Eargle (Debbie), Morgan Lee (Lena); great nieces and nephews, Lassity (Charles), Lauren (Dustin), Mickey, Jennifer, T.W., Amanda, Sarah, Jake, Anna, Marissa, Michael, Hayden, Chapman, Noah and Catherine
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, M.L. Jr, Glenn and Max.
