Billie Dimmette Fish, 96 of Charlotte, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on January 18, 2017. Billie was born December 31, 1920 in Gastonia to the late Marvin Luther Hamilton and Sarah Ida Fish. Billie was a charter member of Mulberry Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force for thirty-seven years and nine months. Billie served in World War II from October 1942 until he was discharged in February 1946. He served again during the Korean War from October 1950 until his discharge in February 1952. In April 1961, Billie was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant serving in North Carolina Air National Guard in the 145th Airlift Group.
Billie loved bowling, football, baseball and basketball. He cherished spending time with his family, including his 3 grandchildren and his church family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Neal Helms Fish and his daughter Mary Susan Fish as well as three half-brothers and four half-sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Dwight Fish and wife Mary (Mickey) Taylor Fish of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Thomas Fish, Michael Fish and Susanna Fish all of Charlotte; a special niece Sudie Brown and her husband Dale of Conover and a number of other nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 21 at 10:00 AM at Mulberry Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday 21 at 11:00 AM at Mulberry Baptist Church and burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery with military honors by the North Carolina Air National Guard. The Reverend Larry Burns will officiate.
