Born in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Edna Searcy Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a U.S. Army Veteran, was retired from Uniqema, and was a member of Eastway Drive Church of God. He was an avid runner and loved gardening and the outdoors.
In addition to his wife of 23 years, Mr. Murphy is survived by four children, Brenda Murphy Blecher (Richard), Bobby Murphy (Cindy), Brenda Jones, and Amanda Shaw; six grandchildren, Gabe Williams, Brittany Jones, Jonathan Murphy (Ki’arra), Codi Blakeney, Tyler Counts, and Xavier Counts; two great grandchildren, Hezekiah and Kayden; his twin brother, Verlon Murphy (Lois); a sister-in-law, Juanita Murphy; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Junior Murphy, Clifford Murphy, Alvin Murphy, and CL Murphy.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn West Cemetery conducted by Bishop Dan Carter and Bishop Robert Harris with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:30 Am – 12:30 PM at Forest Lawn West Funeral & Cremation Service.
