Barry was born on October 3, 1957, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Harold and Bernice Houser. He spent his childhood in Charlotte and graduated from Independence High School. Barry owned his own business, Houser Electric, for several years and retired from the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, where he worked as an electrical engineer for the Bojangles Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium.
Barry married the love of his life, Evelyn, and together they had three children, Vance, Haley and Sam. Barry was a great father and family man. As his children grew up, he spent many weekends and evenings watching them play soccer through their school and recreational leagues. Barry was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He participated in many tournaments shooting clay birds and targets. He loved to get together with his friends to shoot at targets and clay birds and share a meal together afterwards. He was also a long time member of Long Creek Rifle and Pistol Club, as well as the National Rifle Association. Barry enjoyed riding his motorcycle and often would ride it without any destination in mind. He was a big fan of hockey and of course, always rooted for the Charlotte Checkers and Carolina Hurricanes. Barry was an amazing husband, father and friend and he will be missed immensely by those who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Barry was predeceased by his brother, Michael Greene. He is survived by his wife Evelyn "Eve" Houser; his children, Vance, Haley, and Sam Houser; and brothers, Paul Greene and Danny Greene.
A visitation for Barry will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
