Barbara was born on June 20th, 1936 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to parents Walter and Beatrice. She graduated from Regis College in Boston, Massachusetts with a degree in Economics. Following her graduation, Barbara met her husband Bill in Hartford, Connecticut and they were married on October 1st, 1960. Bill and Barbara had two sons, William Bond Jr. and Walter John, whom they raised in Charlotte. Barbara dedicated her life to caring for her family as a loving mother and devoted homemaker. In her free time she enjoyed playing tennis, volunteering with the PTA, and playing bridge with her two bridge clubs. After her boys were grown, she worked part time as a tax preparer for H&R Block and enjoyed her daily trips to Harris Teeter. She also continued to play bridge; these ladies were an integral part of her life and she formed lifelong friendships with them.
Barbara and Bill were very dedicated and involved members of St. Vincent Catholic Church for over fifty years.
In their golden years, Bill and Barbara enjoyed traveling all over the world; their favorite was their trip to Tuscany, Italy. After the trips, Barbara would create elaborate scrapbooks that detailed everything they did on their trips. In addition to traveling, Barbara loved shopping. This is a hobby her and her granddaughter, Bailey, loved to indulge in together. They would spend hours in South Park Mall finding the perfect outfits for any occasion.
Barbara will be remembered as a loving mother, stylish grandmother, and sincere friend.
The bridge clubs, many amazing neighbors in Beverly Woods and the lifelong friends made through Huntingtowne Farms Swim and Tennis have been a wonderful support system for Walter and his family.
Barbara was predeceased by her father, Walter; mother, Beatrice; brother, Bob; and loving husband of over 63 years, Bill. She is survived by sons, William and wife Anita of Cary, and Walter and wife Gina of Seven Lakes, and grandchildren, Lauren, Kristen, Justin, and Bailey. Barbara adored her nieces and nephews; she loved receiving pictures and updates about their families and cherished the times spent visiting with them.
A special thanks to Waltonwood Cotswold and Pruitthealth for comforting care. As well, as the loving friends and family who visited her and sent cards and treats. Walter, Gina, and Bailey are forever grateful to all who made her feel so loved.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 6th, 2024. St. Vincent is located at 6828 Old Reid Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.
