Arthur Allen Jr.

After a courageous and long battle with cancer, Arthur Allen Jr passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side. He was born on October 8, 1942, in Kings Mountain NC. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Allen, his father Arthur Allen Sr. and his mother Mary O. Allen.

Art graduated from Kings Mountain HIgh School in 1961 and attended East Carolina University. He served in the NC National Guard from 1962 to 1972. Art worked as a salesman for Dogwood Fabrics and Pittsburg Paints. He enjoyed woodworking, spending many years creating treasures for his family and selling his work at various art shows including the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte. Art was the comedian in the family and made sure to keep everyone around him laughing and smiling. His greatest joy were his 5 grandchildren, whom he loved more than life.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marlene Allen, daughters Heather Young (Matt) of Spring Hill, TN, Audra Cooper (Donnie) of Belmont, NC, grandchildren Jarrett Cooper, Sara Cooper and Ava Cooper , all of Belmont, and Hayden Young and Amelia Young of Spring Hill, TN. Sister in Law, Susan Allen of Blowing Rock, NC. Nieces and Nephews- Jennifer Hege (Adam), Jeremy Allen, Chris Falls, Theresa and Mark McIntosh, Hope and Holly McIntosh.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the wonderful staff of Southern Oncology Specialists who treated Art like family, the nursing staff at Novant Health in Huntersville, who provided such great care and love and the members of Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church for all of their love and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church Circle of Mary or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
