Annie was born August 1st, 1923 in Gaffney, South Carolina to William Burton Humphries and Annie Pearl (Skinner) Humphries. She graduated from Boiling Springs High School, where she played on the basketball team and was voted "prettiest girl of her senior class." After graduating, Annie moved to Charlotte, where she met and married William Joe (Jay) King. Annie worked for Monteith's Steak House for twenty five years. Annie and Jay founded Charlotte Cab Company in 1964.
Annie was preceded in death by husband Jay and grandson James, her parents, one sister, and three brothers. She is survived by daughters Lisa (King) Hinson (Frank) and Judy Williams, grandchildren Christina, Lynn (Shawn), Elaine, and Nichole (Troy), Stacey; great grandchildren Danielle (Vic), Dana, Chris, Desmond, Shawn, Joshua, Kai, and Cameron, great great grandchildren Damion and Constance, sister Gail, brothers Maynard and Alvis, and very special friends Bobbie Monteith, and Robert and Susan Triana.
