Margaret “Anne” Ownbey Rhyne, age 70, a loving wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away on May 22, 2014. Funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, at 3pm at Banks Presbyterian Church, 10012 New Town Road, Marvin, NC. 28173. Visitation will start at 1:30pm.
Anne, the eldest daughter of James A. and Margaret Ownbey, was a 1961 graduate of Indian Land High School and a 1963 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She played competitive tennis in the Charlotte Queen City Tennis League for some 25 years. Anne also was a long time (35 years) traditional quilter and made numerous award winning quilts. She was a long time member of Banks Presbyterian Church and was currently an acting elder.
Mrs. Rhyne was predeceased in death by her father James A. Ownbey and a brother Bill Ownbey. She is survived by her mother Margaret Ownbey; her husband, James M. “Jim” Rhyne; son Chris of Fort Mill, SC; son Jeff of Atlanta, GA; son Pat and his wife Jodi of Monroe, NC; and son Tommy and his wife Lisa, of Fort Mill, SC; her brother, Bob Ownbey and wife Joyce of Fort Mill, SC; her sisters, Allison Lee of Fort Mill, SC, Nancy Hegler and her husband Tim of Kershaw, SC and Carol Attenhofer of Waxhaw, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Drew, Jared, James, Jake, Emma, Gracie and Ava.
