Anne was born in Detroit, Michigan, and was the daughter of the late Howard Haskins, Sr. and the late Marguerite King Haskins both of Detroit Michigan. Anne remained a loyal Michigan Wolverine booster like her father and uncles even though she lived in North Carolina much of her life.
Anne moved to Charlotte in 1965 from East Lansing, Michigan, along with her three children and former late husband, Dwyer Charles Sump. She was a former teacher in Detroit. After moving to North Carolina, she pursued her business inclinations and joined a manufacturing company, Winton Products Co., Inc. After 20 plus years of service, she retired as part owner, vice-president and secretary of the corporation.
Anne was a member of the Catholic Parish of St. Vincent de Paul for many years and was active in the choir during that time.
Not only was Anne an avid Carolina Panthers fan, she savored sports in general. Anne had eclectic musical taste but especially enjoyed classical music. Her other interests included membership in the Joy Luck Investment Club and Sr. Scholars.
Anne was predeceased by her son, Roger L. Sump.
Survivors include her son, Michael B. Sump, of Charlotte and her daughter, Laura A. Bass (Craig), of Matthews; daughter-in-law, Sally A. Sump, of Durham; 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and her beloved caregiver, Cerita Evans, of Charlotte.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the Catholic Parish of St. Vincent de Paul, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte. Reverend Mark S. Lawlor will be the celebrant.
