Anna was born on June 15, 1940 and grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended college in Columbus, Ohio, at Capital University and joined the Marine Corps ROTC program while there. Upon graduation, she served in the Marine Corps, where she met her husband, Robert. They married in 1966.
Anna was a member of the Officers’ Wives’ Club and the Women Marine Association and served in the Marine Corps as both an active-duty officer and a reserve officer. She used her education degree from Capital to teach at Fairfax Christian School and Tara Reston Christian School, and she worked for JC Penney for twenty years as a Training Supervisor. Anna volunteered as a docent for the National Museum of the Marine Corps and spent much of her free time at the museum. She loved dogs and always had a dachshund or two ready to jump in her lap when she was home.
She moved to an assisted living facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, three years ago to be closer to her grandchildren and receive care after suffering from several health setbacks.
She is greatly missed and survived by her husband, Robert B. Williams, Lt. Col USMC, retired; her three children, Heidi, Kurt (Mandy), and Karl (Jennifer), and her grandchildren, Christian, Cameron, Paulina, and Brunner. Anna is also loved and mourned by her step-children Robin Hughes (Patrick), Scott Williams, and Kathy Chere (John II).
Anna’s funeral service will be held at the chapel on the grounds of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, with internment to follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
Donations can be made in her honor to the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, or Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfax, Virginia.
