Andrew James Davis

Andrew James Davis, 95, of Charlotte, NC passed away on April 24, 2011. He was born on June 18, 1915 to Henry Wilson Davis and Margaret Stowe Davis. He attended N.C. State, Furman and Bob Jones Universities. Jim was retired from US Weather Bureau. He enjoyed bird hunting with his dog, Deacon and also enjoyed spending time in his garden. Jim served as Elder at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, was an active Mason in Steele Creek Lodge # 737 and Eastern Star # 339.

Jim was predeceased by his wife, Virginia; daughters, Anita Ludwig and Joyce Davis; brothers, Henry and Herb and sister Margaret. He is survived by his wife, Mary Williams-Davis; son, Jim Davis and wife Carol; 7 grandchildren, Angela, Kathy, Jennifer, Susanne, Stephen, Ginny and Andy; 9 great-grandchildren; 6 step-children, David, Sandra, Beverly, Karen, Bonnie and Michael; 16 step-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 27 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Road, Charlotte, NC 28278 followed by a funeral service at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jim’s honor to Steele Creek Presbyterian Church; Hospice Community Care, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or Steele Creek Lodge # 737.
