She was born in Durham, NC, and lived most of her life in Charlotte. Alma was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She devoted most of her time to caring for others and always put her family before herself. She worked from the time she was a teenager and retired from Package Products Company in Charlotte.
Alma is survived by her son, James Horne Jr., and his wife Kelli; her granddaughter Melissa Horne Neu and her husband Bart; her granddaughter Lindsey Horne and her husband Derek Atkins; her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Natalie, Henry, Elliott, Katie, Bryan, Haley, and Isabel; her sister Ann Stone of Taylorsville, NC; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James G. Horne Sr ; her father, John Sherman Pinyan; mother, Lodie Sowers Pinyan; brothers, John Pinyan, Floyd Pinyan, Phineas Pinyan, Earl Pinyan, Amyel Pinyan, Patrick Pinyan, and Otis Pinyan and by sisters, Ethel Wilson, Maxine Price, Louise Ritch, and Dixie Kendall.
Alma was a devoted Christian and a member of Commonwealth United Methodist Church.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00pm ,Saturday, April 23, 2022,at Gethsemane Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, 1504 W. Sugar Creek Rd. Charlotte, NC.
The family requests that memorials be sent to Commonwealth United Methodist Church, 2434 Commonwealth Ave. Charlotte, NC 28205.
