Betty Lou Smith

Betty Lou Smith, 79, of Charleston passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at CAMC Memorial Division after a long illness. Born on April 19, 1935 she was the daughter of Howard Madison and Eunice Beatrice Patton Smith. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and was employed by Western Southern Insurance and Life of Virginia Insurance, from which she retired in 1993 after a 28 year career. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Ruth Eloise Leonard and Delores "Corky" Bailey. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Dawn Smith, of Charleston with whom she resided; brothers Howard Judson Smith and his wife, Joanna, of Dunbar, and Darest Madison Smith, of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews. Service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee Street, Charleston, with Pastor George Webb and Clinton "C.T." Hoy officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery, Kanawha Two Mile, Charleston.
