CHAPIN – On September 26, 2017 God came and took Tommy to the big USC Cockaboose in Heaven.
Mr. Runge was born in Winston Salem, NC to the late Gus and Madlyn Long Runge. He graduated from Brooklyn Cayce High School where he was a member of the football team and band. He attended USC and graduated from Pfeiffer College. Tommy was employed many years by the Wally Butts Insurance Agency in Athens, GA. He served in the Air National Guard Unit, was a member of West Columbia Sinclair Masonic Lodge #154 and Jamil Temple Shriners, serving on the Hospital Relations Committee. He was a member of the Lake Murray Bass Fishing Club and longtime member of the Lake Murray Steak Club. He enjoyed many hours with his beloved wife boating on Lake Murray. Tommy loved God, his devoted wife of 48 years and his children. He had many beloved friends and classmates. Tommy was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Surviving are his wife, Bunny Runge of Chapin; sons, Thomas Runge, Jr. (Linda) of Irmo, Russell Runge (Sue) of Lake Murray; Goddaughter, Tammy Willy (Joel) of Hilton Head; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Clodfelter (Pansy) of Orange Beach, FL; sister, Glyn Hamilton (Merle) of Simpsonville; numerous nieces and nephews and beloved dog, Rougeot. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Runge; brother, Sammy Runge of Winston Salem and granddaughter, Amanda Dyches.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Lake Murray Presbyterian Church with visitation at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
