CHAPIN - Our beloved Lisa Marie Lindler passed away from this earthly home to her heavenly home on Nov. 22, 2013. Lisa was born January 30, 1962 to Theresa Amick Lindler and the late James Virgil Lindler. Lisa fought a courageous battle against cancer, but in the end, gave her life up to God, surrounded by her family.
Lisa graduated from Chapin High School in 1962. She was on the basketball team and played trumpet in the Chapin High School band. She was the drum major her senior year and won Superior rating at the State marching band contest. She attended the University of South Carolina and was in the Gamecock marching band. Lisa also graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and was a state trooper for 23 years. She was one of only a few women who have held this position. Not only did she patrol the roads to keep them safe, risking her life to do it, she also looked out for pedestrians on the road. She never passed a stranded car on the road that she did not stop and see if she could help. Lisa changed a lot of tires, carried a gas can in her car for people who ran out of gas, and she never left anyone stranded on the road because of car trouble. She was very compassionate in dealing with victims of car accidents and their families. She received many notes and cards from people thanking her for her help. She took her job seriously, and her family is very proud of her service that she provided for this state.
Lisa loved sports having played softball for her church and many other teams in the Columbia area. She loved playing games on her Xbox, playing cards, and watching movies such as Jurassic Park. She was a big kid at heart, and loved spending time with her sisters, and her nieces and nephews. Her family will miss her tremendously. In addition, to her mother, Lisa is survived by her sisters Sandra Lindler Hughes and Brenda Lindler Carr (Pete). Her nephew Brad Carr and her two nieces, Ashley Carr Ochoa (Jesse) and Kelly Hughes Thomas (Chris); Great nephews Joseph Ochoa and Mason Thomas and great niece Kaitlin Ochoa. She is also survived by her special friend, Cheryl Lashway, and her two “very special pets” Max and Molly. She was predeceased by her father, James Virgil Lindler and her brother-in-law, James Stanley Hughes.
Services will be held on Sunday, November. 24, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church.
Lisa and her family would also like to express our deepest gratitude to Blue Ridge Hospice, especially Robin Taylor and the three stooges, Ladonya Hallman, Kristy Morris, and Krista Kell. But most of all, we want to express our sincere gratitude to her favorite nurse, Susan Fellers. Lisa and her family grew to love Susan very much. She was a blessing to all of us.
