Chapin resident, John E. Hossenlopp was born January 24th, 1938, and died July 24th, 2024. He was born in Buffalo, NY to Emil and Eleanor Hossenlopp. John attended the University of Buffalo and served honorably in the United States Army. He moved to South Carolina in 1974 and completed his work career as a supervisor with Westinghouse NFD in Columbia, SC. John was an active member of the Chapin Community. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Prime Timers and served on the St. Peter’s Church Council. John was a volunteer for Chapin We Care, a local food pantry. John also served as a board member for the Chapin Lion’s Club and American Legion Post #193.
John is survived by his spouse, Betsy; children, Amy (Cory): grandchild, Andrew, Eric (Nidaa); grandchildren, Alyssa and Dylan, Craig (girlfriend Stephanie). John is survived by his siblings Barbara, David (Patty), Mary, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
John will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his kind, gentle manner. He loved football, family card games, boating and all lake activities. A special appreciation is extended to the excellent care given to John by the Lutheran Hospice staff, John Gould III MD, Sheila, Alene, Lisa, Teresa, Pastor Karen and Kathy.
Please join us to celebrate the life of John. We will gather to share some of our favorite memories and stories of him. The celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, at 4 PM. Funeral church services will be performed by St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Church Rd, Chapin SC.
