Bill Strosnider passed away on Thursday, April 19 at home with his wife, Dee, at his side. He died peacefully in his sleep. Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bill was born in Washington, D.C and raised in Altoona, PA by his grandparents. After graduating high school, Bill joined the Navy. While serving, he became a welding inspector and inspected ships including nuclear submarines. He served for 22 years and reached the position of Chief Petty Officer. In 1989, Bill officially retired from the Navy and began his life as a civilian metallographic examiner. He built his own business, Anchor Testing, which still exists today. Bill and Dee previously lived in Austin, Texas and moved to Sunbird in 2003. Bill remained a Texan at heart. While living in the Sunbird community, Bill was an avid golfer, bowler, and past president of the Lions Club. He was awarded the Club Excellence Award for his hard work and dedication. Bill’s humor and generous spirit will be missed by all his family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Sunbird Community Ballroom, 6250 S. Sunbird Blvd, Chandler, AZ 85249, Tuesday, April 24, 1-3 pm. Bill’s remains will be laid to rest May 31st, 9 am, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248.
