Roger W. Morrison 75 of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away September 11, 2011. He is survived by his wife Kay; daughter Paula, sons Michael (Joan), Roger Dru (Joyce), 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, his brother John (Norma), sisters Wanda (Don), Geri and Merilyn (Tom).
During his school years his interest were music, (piano), skiing and the Boy Scouts, where he advanced to the rank of Eagle with three oak leaf palms. After attending the University of Utah, he entered the Aviation Cadet Program. He was at Lack land AFB then on to Primary at Spence AFB and when he completed his training in the T-33, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. and started his family with daughter Paula. Roger attended Gunnery School at Luke AFB flying the F-84F and then transitioned into the F100D. He did tours in Chaumont, France where his son Michael was born. Lake heath, England was his next base where son Roger Dru was born. From there the family returned to the states and was stationed at Cannon AFB. There were many TDY’s including several transpacs. Rotations included Incerlik, Turkey, deploying to Iran, to McDill AFB during the Cuban Missile Crisis and immediately after to Thailand. The Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 sent him to Da Nang, Vietnam, returning to Cannon he left the Air Force, got an interservice transfer to the Marine Corps and flew A-4’s out of Los Alamitos NAS and went to work for United Airlines. He spent the next 30 years flying several types of aircrafts and retired from the Boeing 747 in 1995. Roger and Kay retired to Sun Lakes, Arizona in 2005. Roger loved his Thursday MOGA golf and his regular Monday golf with special friends and couples golf with his life time partner Kay. Services were already rendered and arrangements enrtusted to Valley of the Sun Mortuary, Chandler, Arizona.
