Marlyn was born and lived in the Minneapolis area until retiring and moving to Arizona in 1993. She held various Executive Secretary jobs throughout her working career including Ed Arnold Insurance Co, Norwest Bank (now Wells Fargo), and Control Data. While living in Brooklyn Center, MN, she along with her husband Donald, were active in Citizens for Better Government and a member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club. They also did a lot of high quality wood-crafting together with Marlyn taking care of the painting. Christmas ornaments and decorations were always a favorite.
Marlyn was a great mother, she always attended any activities her children participated in (choir concerts, athletic events, etc.), and even traveled to other states to do so! She always made sure she had a few extra dollars to give her kids for some extra fun. Marlyn was a big sports fan and rarely missed an opportunity to watch "her" Suns, Cardinals or Diamondbacks. Marlyn was also an avid gambler and luckier than most people, she once won $1 million in a video slot tournament!
Marlyn is survived by her children: Kathleen (Harry) Lewis of Gainesville, GA, Cheryl (Sidney Dietz) Dodge of Chandler, AZ, Dan Dodge of Boynton Beach, FL and Greg (Deb) Dodge of Buffalo, MN, 7-Grandchildren, 8-Great Grandchildren, and 99 year old brother and WW II Vet, James Clermont. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Donald, parents Cecile and Arthur, and brother Donnie Clermont.
Arrangements are with Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery in Chandler, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: Hospice of the Valley 1510 E Flower St. Phoenix, AZ 85014 or donate online at hov.org.
